Former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao reunites with children after release, fundraiser launched

"What the enemy meant for evil, God used it for good," his family said in the fundraiser, celebrating his release from "political imprisonment."

Former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao has reunited with his wife and children after being released from federal prison last week.

Photos show Thao embracing his children for the first time in years upon his release. Thao previously told Alpha News that he didn’t have his three kids visit him while he was in prison because he didn’t want them “having that image … that type of trauma.”

A fundraiser has also been launched to support Thao as he works to rebuild his life.

“After Tou’s release from his political imprisonment, many have asked for a way to donate and show their support. This GiveSendGo was created in response to those heartfelt offers of support. Tou also is thankful for all the letters of encouragement both from home and abroad,” the fundraiser says.
